A few days ago Google rolled out Google +1 – a new feature that is similar to the Facebook “Like” button.

As a matter of fact it looks just like the “Like” button

You'll notice it here on the blog..  It's Google's way of adding more of a social aspect of the web..

Currently, I'm going “back to the lab” to run several experiments on brand new sites with the Google+1 feature vs. those without and should have some pretty decent test results in the next week or two.

I plan to implement immediately on all my existing sites this week.

Anyway –  here's my take on why you need to implement this immediately.

Since the Google's latest Panda update – social aspects of your website have become a huge factor – comments, likes, and activity on your blog actually matter now and The Big G is rewarding those that have interaction.

Now – what I'm about to say is just a theory…

But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that since Facebook is Google's # 1 threat – then the Google +1 integration will carry more weight in your SEO results.  Again, I'll be running some test of the next few weeks to see if my assumption is correct.

Regardless, you can add the Google +1 using the free WordPress plugin that I'm using – Get the plugin here
